Buenos Aires, February 9 (NA) -- A Buenos Aires province police officer was killed this Monday by criminals during a chase following the theft of a Chevrolet Tracker truck in the Quilmes district. Police sources informed the Argentine News Agency that everything began when an alert was activated on 911 and an officer from the provincial force's Motorized Division responded to the call. The officer found the suspects fleeing in the stolen vehicle and began to pursue them, but at a certain moment, as they were passing through the Buenos Aires locality of Villa Domínico, the assailants rammed the agent's motorcycle, which crashed and he lost his life. Spokespersons stated that the victim was identified as Alejandro Núñez, 40 years old, and for the crime, two suspects aged 19 and 21 have been detained. Other officers from the Buenos Aires Police who heard the alert and were pursuing the criminals arrived at the scene of the accident, and a confrontation took place there. After the shootout between police and criminals, the officers managed to arrest two suspects in a case being investigated by Instructional Functional Unit (UFI) number 3 of the Avellaneda-Lanús Department, led by Solange Cáceres.
